Common ground sought for strategies on wood mobilization
On Wednesday the 21st of January the CEPF Cooperatives Working Group met with the paper industry (CEPI) to discuss and compare strategies for wood mobilisation.
Having the action plan for wood mobilization in progress, the organizations seek for enhanced cooperation to add momentum. The Wood Mobilisation Action Plan Draft by CEPF as well as the outcome of the CEPI study and the summary report by the UNECE/FAO Timber section, “Potential Sustainable Wood Supply in Europe”, were presented to set the scene for discussion.
The CEPF Working Group has collected information on the challenges and opportunities for increased wood mobilisation. Based on interviews and questionnaires sent out to the countries, an action plan has been drafted. The final proposal will be discussed at the next meeting of the CEPF Cooperatives’ Working Group to be held on the 17th of February.
The Secretary Generals of CEPF and CEPI will meet mid-February to discuss the ways forward with the cooperation.
