4-6 March 2009, Budapest, Hungary
Organiser: FAU SEUR / UNECE
At their 2008 joint session, the UNECE Timber Committee and the FAO European Forestry Commission reviewed the mandate of the “Team of Specialists on Contribution of Forests to Sustainable Development in Eastern Europe”, expanded its regional scope to Central Asia and set a focus on forest policy, as reflected in the new name of the “Team of Specialists on Forest Policy in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.”
This team is expected to identify priority issues in countries in the region and promote a transparent regional discussion of priorities and best practices in reforming policies and institutions in the sector. It should advise the UNECE and FAO, on the implementation of their programmes.
The objectives of this meeting are to:
- Establish the team and select a team leader as well as vice leaders;
- Elaborate a work plan for 2009-2013, including the next meeting of the team;
- Get informed about ongoing UNECE/FAO activities with regard to forest policies and institutions;
- Exchange experiences on priority forest policy issues in the region.
CEPF gives a short updating presentation on its work in general and in CEEC in particular.
