The Network will focus on communication strategies in time of global economic crisis, increasing demands from society, climate change and other challenges including growing demand for sustainable energy and raw materials. The meeting will offer an opportunity to exchange best practices and lessons learned on new social media in forest related communication. Also current initiatives and strategies, including the new Forest Communication Strategy for Europe will be discussed. These will be supported by result of research on public perception of forests and forestry in Europe.

The UN-ECE/FAO Forest Communicators Network (FCN) is a Team of Specialists in the ECE region working under a mandate from the UNECE/FAO Timber Committee. It is an open group that is engaged in improving the communication of forestry and the use of forest and forest related products.

The 16th annual meeting is kindly hosted by the Swiss Ministry “Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications”, the Federal Office for the Environment and the Lyss Forestry Training Centre.
