24-26 March 2010, Montpellier, France
Organiser: CIFOR
The importance of community forestry has moved from the local to the international level with the growing concern about climate change. Smallholders have been recognised for successfully managing forest resources. However, new global trends are affecting local forest dynamics.
The workshop aims to evaluate global patterns in forest resource use and management by smallholders and community groups to outline the current state of knowledge and identify a course for future research in line with the following questions:
- What do we know, and what do we still need to study?
- What do we need to implement and how?
- What are global patterns, or similarities and differences across distinct regions of the world?
CEPF will be represented in the workshop together with the International Family Forestry Alliance (IFFA).
The meeting is organised by CIFOR, the French research institute for development (IRD) and the French international research center for agricultural development (CIRAD).
