This workshop will report on a project reviewing the impacts of storms on European forest since 1950, sponsored by the EC Directorate General for Environment. Based on this information and projections of future storm occurrence current policy and forest management are investigated for their effectiveness in reducing damage and in helping restoration after storms.
During the workshop researchers, policy makers, decision makers and stakeholders from across Europe will share their knowledge and views on whether these current systems are adequate at both national and European level. This will also provide an opportunity to share best practice and experience between countries.
The outcomes of the workshop will inform the final report of the project and its recommendations to DG Environment.
