European Parliament adopt balanced position on forest bioenergy in EU legislation on promotion of renewable energy
Reacting to European Parliament’s vote on the Directive on the Promotion of the Use of Energy from Renewable Sources today, forest owners and managers welcome it as a positive step. The outcome recognises the importance of forests and their role in tackling climate change.
EU agrees on LULUCF regulation
European Parliament and Council reached an agreement on the LULUCF regulation. The agreement sends an important signal to millions of forest owners as it should mean a step towards enabling the full potential of Europe’s forests in climate change mitigation and adaptation.

After the vote of European Parliament’s Environment Committee on the Directive on the Promotion of the Use of Energy from Renewable Sources (RED recast) on 23 October, forest owners and managers see as a positive step the approach taken on the forest biomass sustainability.
