In October 2000, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) established the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF), a subsidiary body with its main objective to promote “… the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and to strengthen long-term political commitment to this end…”.
The 16th session of UNFF will among others discuss the implementation of the United Nations strategic plan for forests 2017–2030 and the impacts of COVID-19 on forests and forest sector.
