CEPF Feedback on the European Commission Roadmap: European climate law – achieving climate neutrality by 2050
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges in this millennium and the paths towards reaching the carbon neutrality objective are therefore essential to organise. In this respect, CEPF welcomes the European Commission initiative to propose a European Climate law.

CEPF is pleased to have had the opportunity to highlight the role of forest in changing climatic conditions and underpin the need for multifunctional forests in addressing future challenges in an event organised by Latvia’s Zaļās mājas on 22 January 2020.
EU forests in the European Green Deal
The European Commission recently released European Green Deal with a set of policy guidelines that will bring the EU closer towards its transition to a climate-neutral continent by 2050. This Communication encompasses several initiatives which are key for the EU forest sector.
EC Press Release: Commission report: more countries than ever hit by forest fires in 2018
The latest Commission report on forest fires reveals that wildfires destroyed nearly 178 000 ha of forests and land in the EU last year. While this is less than 1/6 of the area burnt in 2017, and less than the long-term average, more countries than ever suffered from large fires.
