The Communication for a new European Forest Strategy (EUFS) as published by the European Commission on 20 September 2013 is highly welcomed by the private forest owners.
CEPF, Copa-Cogeca, ELO, EUSTAFOR and USSE strongly oppose the draft text on sustainability criteria for solid and gaseous biomass currently in inter-service consultation in the Commission.
Europe’s forests already make a great contribution to the bio-based economy. The future Bioeconomy Strategy should acknowledge this and further strengthen the opportunities forests can offer when taking further steps towards a low carbon economy.
With great satisfaction, CEPF and Copa-Cogeca, representing private forest owners in Europe, are happy to see the positive attitudes, transparency and good progress made in this process.
The Commission is currently reviewing EU legislation on the marketing of seed and plant propagating material consisting of 12 basic acts.
The role of wood must be secured in tomorrow’s energy mix.
