The Bioeconomy Changemakers Festival consisted of High-level events and accompanied by satellite gatherings across Europe, aimed to empower youth as drivers of change. By focusing on the bioeconomy's transformative potential, the festival provided a platform for dialogue, innovation, and collective action.

The Bioeconomy Changemakers Festival, a collaborative initiative by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Research and Innovation and the Bioeconomy Youth Ambassadors, recently took place in Brussels, accompanied by a series of independent satellite events across Europe.

The festival, held from March 11 to 17, 2024, aimed to engage youth as drivers of the transformative change required in view of the multiple challenges that Europe faces today, and to unlock the potential of the bioeconomy to make the transformation happen. Furthermore, the event served as a platform for gathering insights crucial for updating the European Commission's Bioeconomy Strategy and Action Plan.

The main event, held in Brussels on March 13-14, 2024, was complemented by over 30 satellite events organized by various third-party entities across the European Union. The primary audience for the high-level event included stakeholders from the bioeconomy sector, alongside regional, national, and international policymakers, as well as youth with an interest in bioeconomics.

CEPF Secretary General, Fanny-Pomme Langue participated in the High-Level event on 14 March, representing European Bioeconomy Alliance (EUBA). In her speech, she emphasized the significance of three pivotal words: 'rural,' 'local,' and 'investments' in fostering sustainable development and empowering communities. She also highlighted the imperative of responsible consumption and advocated for an urgent need for a consistent regulatory framework that prioritizes research and innovation (R&I) while incentivizing sustainable practices.

The satellite events, successfully held in 18 countries or online, provided forums for dialogue, networking, and exploration of career opportunities in the bioeconomy field. These events featured discussions, workshops, field trips, and interactive activities, including bioeconomy-themed games and art exhibitions.
