European forests provide a broad range of ecosystem goods and services vital to society, however their sustainable provision remains challenging. Spurring INnovations for forest eCosystem sERvices in Europe (SINCERE) and Enabling Innovations in Forest Ecosystem Services (InnoForESt) are four-year projects, funded through the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme, looking at provision of forest ecosystem services.

From 2018 to 2022, SINCERE will develop novel policies and new business models by connecting knowledge and expertise from practice, science and policy, across Europe and globally. In the same time frame, InnoForESt will seek to spark a transformation of the European forest sector by stimulating innovations for the sustainable supply and financing of forest ecosystem services.

In this research context, the survey “What values do forests create for their owners and society?” is a joint effort to gather more information on the values of forest ecosystem services from the managers and owners point of view. The questionnaire also addresses the possible challenges to create an income from these benefits. The survey is designed to be answered by people who operate on a local level and can answer the questionnaire while referring to a specific forest that they are familiar with.

The survey is open until 30 November 2019.
