Nature Restoration Law passes its final Stage in the Parliament: a disappointing outcome

On 27 February 2024, the European Parliament adopted the provisional agreement on the Nature Restoration Law with 329 votes in favour, 275 votes against, and 24 abstentions. The tight majority for adoption correlates with the doubts of European forest owners on the agreed text.

On 14 March, Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič hosted a dialogue on forest-based bioeconomy. This dialogue was the 6th under the clean transition dialogue and gathered around 30 organisations.

On 29 April 2024 EFI organized its ThinkForest webinar which focused on sustainable finance and biodiversity in the context of the EU Taxonomy. CEPF Secretary General, Fanny-Pomme Langue participated in the panel discussion and addressed the question of forest owners’ motivation to look for private funding opportunities.
