The workshop aims to examine and emphasize Copernicus' role within the framework of EU forest policy. The specific objectives include:
- Providing an overview of the policy context and current forest-related regulations, with updates on recent developments such as the EUDR and EU Forest monitoring.
- Clarifying the roles and interactions among stakeholders in various regulations.
- Evaluating existing capabilities and success stories of Earth Observation (EO) and Copernicus in the field of forestry, with a focus on practical examples of EO data usage.
- Identifying the needs of stakeholders and challenges related to EO.
- Deliberating on the future and potential developments in EO.
The workshop will feature speakers and participants from EU Policy DGs and agencies, both EU and non-EU National Public Authorities, Copernicus Entrusted Entities, the Research community, and the Private sector.

- Welcome introduction
- Session 1: Regulation on Deforestation-Free Commodities
- Session 2: Regulation on Deforestation-Free Commodities/Private sector
- Session 3: EU Forest Strategy & Forest Monitoring Regulation
- Session 4: Forest Monitoring beyond Forest Regulations
- Closing Keynote and Conclusions
