Field visits showcased Denmark’s Agreement on a Green Denmark and contributions to the EU’s 3 billion trees objective. CEPF took part in both meetings. 15 September 2025 Feedback CEPF Feedback on the Commission’s Proposal for the EU 2040 Climate Target Forest owners strongly support the EU’s decarbonisation agenda and highlight the dual role of reducing dependence on fossil fuels while fostering a sustainable bioeconomy. CEPF stresses that active and sustainable forest management, supported by an enabling EU policy framework, will be essential to strengthen forest resilience, maintain Europe’s carbon sink capacity, and ensure forests continue to contribute meaningfully to climate mitigation and the EU’s strategic autonomy. 2 July 2025 Updates 2040 EU Climate target – publication of EC proposal On 2 July 2025, the European Commission proposed an amendment to the EU Climate Law.
