CEPF highlights disproportonality of the MRV costs and the climate benefit analysis. 19 February 2026 Feedback CEPF's reply to the Commission's call for feedback on the carbon farming methodologies CEPF welcomes the progress on the afforestation methodology under CRCF but highlights persistent challenges, including disproportionate monitoring burdens, restrictive eligibility criteria, and the need for clearer safeguards against changing legislation, calling for a more practical and inclusive framework for European forest owners. 13 October 2025 Updates EU Nature and Forest Directors’ meetings under the Danish Pesidency EU Nature and Forest Directors met in Copenhagen under the Danish Presidency to discuss nature restoration, coexistence with large carnivores, forest biodiversity, and afforestation. Field visits showcased Denmark’s Agreement on a Green Denmark and contributions to the EU’s 3 billion trees objective. CEPF took part in both meetings. 15 September 2025 Feedback CEPF Feedback on the Commission’s Proposal for the EU 2040 Climate Target Forest owners strongly support the EU’s decarbonisation agenda and highlight the dual role of reducing dependence on fossil fuels while fostering a sustainable bioeconomy. CEPF stresses that active and sustainable forest management, supported by an enabling EU policy framework, will be essential to strengthen forest resilience, maintain Europe’s carbon sink capacity, and ensure forests continue to contribute meaningfully to climate mitigation and the EU’s strategic autonomy. 2 July 2025 Updates 2040 EU Climate target – publication of EC proposal On 2 July 2025, the European Commission proposed an amendment to the EU Climate Law.
