CEPF stresses the need for a realistic perspective on the potential contributions of forests in the development of the European Water Resilience Strategy. While water is important for forests and forests are important for water, forests' potential contribution to solving water challenges is limited and should thus not be the focus of the Strategy.

On 13 January 2025, the Environment and Agriculture Committees of the European Parliament held a joint public Hearing to discuss the European Commission's proposal on forest monitoring, titled “Forest Monitoring for resilient European Forests”. The panelists presented their views on the initiative and discussed current state and future strategies for monitoring Europe’s forests in the relation to the European Commission’s proposal.

Representatives of the European forest and forest-based sector, the undersigned
organisations would like to share their views ahead the 9th Ministerial Conference on the
Protection of Forests in Europe (Bonn Conference).
