While European forest owners fully support the general principle of increasing resilience of European forests, we have substantial doubts whether the proposed provisions of of the European Commission's proposal might be the right tool for achieving it.

In September and October 2023, the Spanish Presidency of the Council organised a meeting for EU Nature Directors, in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, and one for the EU Forest Directors, in the Alcornocales Natural Park. CEPF representatives took part in both meetings.

First meeting of the Forest and Forestry Stakeholder Platform covered several important topics including: Soil Monitoring Law, four recently published EC guidelines, and CAP and forestry. CEPF is pleased to contribute as a member, representing European forest owners' interests.

At the annual event of the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC), CEPF took part of a panel session focused on European and global approaches to implement the EU Forest Monitoring Framework.

In May 2023, the Swedish Presidency of the Council organised a meeting for EU Forest Directors in Skellefteå and one for the EU Nature Directors in Färnebofjärden national park.

In two meetings of the group, stakeholders discussed with the Commission how networking and collaboration can help resolve tensions and address the multiple needs facing forest-dominant rural areas.
