During the workshop, researchers presented findings from different work packages and participants discussed research priorities within the SRIA chapters.
The Second EUFORE European-level Stakeholder Workshop took place on 27 November in Brussels. CEPF Junior Policy Officer Alina Lehikoinen participated in the workshop to represent the views of forest owners. In the workshop, a number of findings from the different work packages of the project were presented. Among the key outcomes of the project, is the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, SRIA, which aims to set the course for research priorities in the field of forests and forestry for the next years.
The morning session of the workshop started with a presentation from Laura Liepina from DG AGRI, who talked about the alignment of the project and the SRIA with the EU forest policy landscape. Researchers Mikko Kurttila from Luke, Niels Strange from UCPH and Jan Schmidt from FNR shared the progress and the findings from the three work packages, including an analysis of innovation trends and results showing strong public support for afforestation and sustainable wood use.
In the afternoon, the workshop participants divided into four different breakout groups to discuss the four chapter of the SRIA: Forest Ecology, Forest Management, Forest Products, and Social Aspects & Policy. The breakout groups worked together to define the priorities within each of the chapters.
CEPF wishes the EUFORE project a good continuation and good luck with the finalisation of the SRIA over the next months.
