Sweden has officially assumed the Chairmanship of FOREST EUROPE, marking the start of a two-year term focused on stability, collaboration, and sustainable forest management. Under the leadership of Ms. Ebba Henning Planck, the Liaison Unit Sweden (LUS) is now fully operational and ready to guide key priorities.

The Swedish Chairmanship will focus on:

  •  Advancing sustainable forest management, with evolving criteria and indicators at the forefront. This workstream, led by Ms. Rebecca Hunt, also includes the launch of the flagship report State of Europe’s Forests (SoEF).
  • Ensuring the stability of FOREST EUROPE as a collaborative, high-level forest policy process. This workstream will be managed by Ms. Johanna From.

Additionally, LUS will address emerging issues related to forest policy, coordinated by Mr. Fredrik Silfwerbrand. The 10th Ministerial Conference, to be held in Sweden at the end of the term, will be managed by Mr. Raymond Wide.

Communication efforts to raise awareness and engage stakeholders will be led by Ms. Veronika Albert, ensuring that the work of FOREST EUROPE remains visible and impactful throughout the Chairmanship.
