While European forest owners fully support the general principle of increasing resilience of European forests, we have substantial doubts whether the proposed provisions of of the European Commission's proposal might be the right tool for achieving it.

Today’s vote on the Carbon Removals Certification Framework in the European Parliament’s vote underlines forestry’s contribution, while at the same time risks limitations to capitalise on the true potential of sustainably managed multifunctional forests.

European forest owners have strong concerns regarding the known outcomes of the trilogue negotiations. The agreed restoration targets, their implementation, and their weak financing basis make the compromise appear unrealistic.

FOREST EUROPE High Level Talks meeting took place on 9 November in Berlin, Germany. The meeting was an opportunity to address the increasing risks posed by climate change and biodiversity crises to European forests.

Soil is one of the fundamentals of forest management. European forest owners have at heart to manage and to maintain it. External factors, including changing climate, could significantly decrease possible positive results, so overall objective should fit uncertainty of results.

Within its Forest Restoration Talk’s serie, SUPERB project and IUFRO hosted a panel discussion on “(In)Coherences in EU Forest-Related Policies under the framework of the Nature Restoration Law”. CEPF Secretariat took part of the panel.
