CEPF is seeking a Junior EU forest expert

The Confederation of European Forest Owners (CEPF) is the umbrella association of national forest owner organisations in Europe. Representing private forest owners in Europe, CEPF promotes the values of sustainable forest management, private property ownership and the economic viability of the forest sector.

Based in Brussels, CEPF is a non-profit organisation, representing the interest of more than 15 million forest owners. These are private individuals, families and cooperatives, which take care of approximately 60% of the European forest area.

CEPF is now searching for an enthusiastic Junior EU forest expert to support the work of its Secretariat in Brussels for at least 6 months.

What we are looking for

A new team member for CEPF Secretariat to contribute to policy and advocacy work. The junior EU forest expert will be carrying out the following tasks:

  • Represent and frame the position of CEPF in research and innovation projects related to forest restoration, soil, resilience, and forest monitoring
  • Represent and frame the position of CEPF in institutional projects on forest restoration and forest monitoring.
  • Gather and analyse information at international and national level in areas of CEPF interest such as on payment for ecosystem services and sustainable finance
  • Provide technical support to CEPF policy and communication team.

Job requirements

Personal qualifications

  • Good writing/editing skills in English and confidence in verbal expression
  • Team player who has a positive attitude and is sociable and reliable
  • Ability to work independently
  • EU work permit for non-EU citizens

Education and experience

  • MSc. in Forest Sciences
  • Experience in or strong knowledge of EU policy making

  • Full time equivalent 6 months contract (possibly followed by an open-ended contract), based in Brussels
