The European Forest Institute has launched the Forest Knowledge Gateway — a dynamic, science-based platform connecting forest professionals across Europe with the latest insights, tools, and best practices for restoration, biodiversity, and sustainable management.

The ENVI and AGRI Committees voted on 23 September to reject the Commission’s proposal for an EU forest monitoring framework; the file now moves to Plenary.

European forest owners welcome the rejection of a proposal for regulation on a monitoring framework for resilient European forests by a large majority of members of the Agriculture and Environment Committees of the European Parliament. This sends a clear message that the concerns voiced by European forest owners over the last two years have been heard.

Forest owners strongly support the EU’s decarbonisation agenda and highlight the dual role of reducing dependence on fossil fuels while fostering a sustainable bioeconomy. CEPF stresses that active and sustainable forest management, supported by an enabling EU policy framework, will be essential to strengthen forest resilience, maintain Europe’s carbon sink capacity, and ensure forests continue to contribute meaningfully to climate mitigation and the EU’s strategic autonomy.

After an excursion to the Dutch SUPERB demo area, the SUPERB project organised a full day workshop focusing on the future of forest restoration in Europe. The day closed with a panel discussion on building communities for scaling up restoration, which CEPF took part in.
