EU Nature and Forest Directors’ meetings under the Danish Pesidency

EU Nature and Forest Directors met in Copenhagen under the Danish Presidency to discuss nature restoration, coexistence with large carnivores, forest biodiversity, and afforestation. Field visits showcased Denmark’s Agreement on a Green Denmark and contributions to the EU’s 3 billion trees objective. CEPF took part in both meetings.

Beyond SUPERB: the future of forest restoration in Europe

The European forest owners’ community strongly welcomes the European Parliament’s rejection of the proposed Regulation establishing a monitoring framework for resilient European forests. The overwhelming majority vote sends a clear and powerful message. The concerns raised by forest owners over the past two years have been heard.
OPEN STATEMENT: A Call to ‘Stop the Clock’ and Ensure a Workable EU Deforestation Regulation

Signatories of a the statement are urging the European Commission to introduce a “stop-the-clock” mechanism on the EU Deforestation Regulation, allowing time for a full assessment of its impact and implementation. They call for genuine simplification measures to make the rules workable while maintaining the Regulation’s core goal of fighting deforestation.
