Adoption of new start dates for EU Deforestation Regulation’s implementation

The EU deforestation regulation (EUDR) start dates’ postponement is officially approved. The one-year delay will allow more time to prepare for the implementation of new due diligence requirements. The regulation will now be signed and published in the EU's Official Journal, so that it can enter into force before the end of 2024.
EP Hearing on EU Forest Monitoring: Do not build a treehouse before growing the tree

The Environment and Agriculture Committees of the European Parliament held today a joint Public Hearing on “Forest Monitoring for resilient European Forests”. They discussed current state and future strategies for the monitoring Europe’s forests in the relation with the EC proposal. EP Hearing on EU Forest Monitoring: Experts call for clarifications and simplification

On 13 January 2025, the Environment and Agriculture Committees of the European Parliament held a joint public Hearing to discuss the European Commission's proposal on forest monitoring, titled “Forest Monitoring for resilient European Forests”. The panelists presented their views on the initiative and discussed current state and future strategies for monitoring Europe’s forests in the relation to the European Commission’s proposal.
CEPF feedback on the European Water Resilience Strategy

CEPF stresses the need for a realistic perspective on the potential contributions of forests in the development of the European Water Resilience Strategy. While water is important for forests and forests are important for water, forests' potential contribution to solving water challenges is limited and should thus not be the focus of the Strategy.
