CEPF Vice-President Luc Bouvarel represented the Confederation of European Forest Owners at the European Conference on Small Forest Holdings, held at FAO Headquarters from 20 to 22 May in Rome.

The Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU organised a meeting for EU Forest Directors and one for EU Nature Directors, in Warsaw. CEPF representatives took part in both meetings.

From 1 July to 31 December 2025, Denmark takes over the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Under the headline “A Strong Europe in a Changing World,” the Danish Presidency sets an ambitious agenda focused on security, resilience, competitiveness, and the green transition.

In view of our concerns about the Regulation’s practical applicability, lack of proportionality, substantial administrative burden, legal uncertainties and diversion of commodity flows likely to be generated, we stress the urgent need for a more targeted, risk-based, and practicable implementation, going beyond what is provided by the current Regulation.

On 12 June 2025, forest-based stakeholders, policymakers, and experts gathered in Brussels to discuss the vital role of forests and forestry in advancing a sustainable EU bioeconomy. With contributions from EU institutions and sector leaders, the roundtable highlighted how forest-based solutions can drive the green transition, support rural development, and contribute to the upcoming EU Bioeconomy Strategy.

Member States, European Parliament and EU-Stakeholders are increasingly calling to make the EUDR more targeted, risk-based, and practicable.
