European Forest Owners call to rework the proposal for an EU Regulation on Nature Restoration or significantly adapt it. At the eve of the vote on the proposal in the EU Parliament, European forest owners are hopeful that this will be the “D-day for successful nature restoration”

At the annual event of the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC), CEPF took part of a panel session focused on European and global approaches to implement the EU Forest Monitoring Framework.

Council reach agreement on its General Approach on 20 June and the European Parliament adopted its Position on 12 July.

Two key deliverables under the EU Forest Strategy for 2030 published on 27 July, “Closer-to-Nature Forestry” guidelines and on “Payment for Ecosystem Services”.

First meeting of the Forest and Forestry Stakeholder Platform covered several important topics including: Soil Monitoring Law, four recently published EC guidelines, and CAP and forestry. CEPF is pleased to contribute as a member, representing European forest owners' interests.

In June 2023, CEPF, Copa-Cogeca, EUSTAFOR and CEJA hosted a joint seminar with EU policymakers, FAO and academia to raise political awareness for Bioeconomy’s return to the central stage in the next EU political cycle. Lively discussions led into a set of policy recommendations.

On 27th September, Lëtzebuerger Privatbësch (Luxembourgish Private Forest Owners) celebrated its 90th birthday in Lintgen, Luxembourg. CEPF Secretariat was delighted to participate to this high level and successful event.

In two meetings of the group, stakeholders discussed with the Commission how networking and collaboration can help resolve tensions and address the multiple needs facing forest-dominant rural areas.

During its 2023’s General Assembly in France on 24-28 May, the research project SUPERB held its Advisory Board meeting. CEPF representative took part to the discussions.

SUPERB project is gathering insight from practitioners on forest restoration and adaptation projects across Europe.

In September and October 2023, the Spanish Presidency of the Council organised a meeting for EU Nature Directors, in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, and one for the EU Forest Directors, in the Alcornocales Natural Park. CEPF representatives took part in both meetings.

Within its Forest Restoration Talk’s serie, SUPERB project and IUFRO hosted a panel discussion on “(In)Coherences in EU Forest-Related Policies under the framework of the Nature Restoration Law”. CEPF Secretariat took part of the panel.
